3 December 1984.....I was just a 2 year old kid so just know what I have heard and read.....don't remember a thing.......it was a disaster which really shook not just Bhopal, not even just India, it shook the entire world......the negligence towards safety measures resulted in the biggest Industrial disaster one would see for a long time......Bhopal gas tragedy is still an example for any existing or upcoming industrial facility to ensure adequate measures of human safety.....the unofficial number was 25000 deaths, and people in Bhopal(and everywhere else) know that it was definitely more than just 25k.......the worst part is even after so many years people call it an accident....it was not an accident by any measures....there was no emergency safety plan, forget that not even minimal safety equipments were present at the site....it was always a bomb waiting to explode....and when it did it was labelled accident......
Till date 3rd December is mourned in Bhopal , but the company Union carbide is still operating in INDIA....well the truth is that to ensure that they did not have to pay the claims to the victims the then 3rd largest chemical company (Union carbide) managed to get itself taken over by Dow Chemicals which is now very much functional and earning PROFITS in India.......
I don't remember because I was a kid, but people still would be having nightmares every year on 3rd December at FIVE PAST MIDNIGHT......
