Just now bought a big bottle of Thums Up and when I was handing over a 50 rupee note to the shopkeeper an old memory struck me......
It was way back when i was i guess in standard 10th.I used to do lots and lots of MASTI and by no means any less than the biggest spendthrift around;used to fill in petrol in my hero puch and used to roam around whole day long gallivanting in the streets of Bhopal (thank God dad bought me a hero puch which had an average of 70km pl), spent so much on eating out, those coke cans, chocolates and all those show off stuff; not to mention that all these resulted in pocket money finishing within a few days, even then I never borrowed from anybody(thanks to Bros pocket money and those coaching classes I never paid for)......lets get back to the 50rs story though..... I was coming out of school(as in bunking and going out) and realised that I had no money to curb my hunger for absolutely unnecessary something (don't exactly remember what, and that's not the point anyway). That was when a very good friend of mine offered me a 50Rs note which he had kept for something and mentioned something which really touched me.
I still remember from his place I went straight home and kept that 50Rs note in my diary enclosed in a paper on which I wrote what he said.
I still have that currency note along with the bookmark note as a cherished memory of those days. That 50 Rs note is just worth a Thums bottle bottle which is already half finished (started having it along with the start of writing this post). Or is it just worth that much or much much more!!! I have read the time value of money and it has only deteriorated because that money was given to me 10 years back and I never invested it, so the value has actually reduced, right? Wrong!!!! Sometimes there are things which you don't read but learn from experience. One can evaluate the value of money by knowing as to much can you get in lieu of it, but how do you know the value of the feelings behind that gesture of GIVING!!!!!
Let me know if there is a measure!!!!
P.S: the words uttered along with the 50Rs note were not so senti , still here you go " Tujhe to de diya hai par pata nahi ab mei kya karoonga".
